Root Canal

Relieve pain and save your tooth with our expert root canal therapy

Root canals have a success rate of over 90 percent when performed by a qualified endodontist.

For many years, people thought of root canals as a painful, dreaded procedure to be avoided at all costs. The truth is, root canals should be embraced as a highly effective means of saving severely decayed or infected teeth from extraction or tooth loss. Thanks to today’s cutting-edge technology, root canals are virtually pain-free and produce extremely reliable results.

Signs You May Need a Root Canal

Root canal therapy allows for the removal of infected tissues deep within the root and/or pulp chamber of a tooth. Some possible signs that you may have this kind of infection include:

  • Severe toothache pain
  • Darkening of tooth enamel
  • Gum swelling and tenderness
  • Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold
  • A persistent or recurring pimple or abscess on the gums

If you experience any of these symptoms, schedule an appointment for an exam at Viva Dental Group immediately. Our expert dentists can determine the cause of your symptoms and recommend the necessary treatment to relieve any pain and prevent severe complications associated with untreated infections.

What to Expect

The root canal procedure itself is a walk in the park compared to the pain you may be feeling due to your infected or abscessed tooth. On the day of your procedure, the dentist will ensure the tooth and surrounding gums are fully numb, and then use special tools to open up the tooth and remove all infected or damaged pulp and nerve tissue. Then, the hollow tooth will be cleaned to remove bacteria and sealed with an inert filler material. You’ll receive a temporary filling at this point. A few days later you can return to have a permanent crown placed on the tooth to protect it and restore full functionality.
